Implementation: July 2006 – May 2007
Goals and Objectives:
- to enhance/encourage children’s initiative,
- to teach them how to use social project technologies,
- to help children and teenagers become more sociallyresponsible;
- to establish and provide support for the Children’s Expert Committees during the project implementation
Activities within the project:
The “School for Social Project Design” is implemented as the continuation of the RUSAL Children’s Program and funded by the RUSAL Company.
The program is administered by the Center for Social Programs Foundation, a non-commercial organization in Krasnoyarsk, with the consultancy and methodological support from the NGO School Foundation.
All the children from the program cities can take part in it. In 2006-2007 the number of participants is expected to be as many as 50 children in each of the cities: Achinsk, Sayanogorsk, Krasnoyarsk, Bratsk, Boksitogorsk and Novokuznetsk. The best participants of the School will become members of Expert Committees which will carry out the first round of the contest proposal evaluation and select the best proposals submitted to the100 Cool Projects contest.
As well as its predecessor, the program is designed to help its participants develop the sense of social responsibility and the skills of creating social projects; to enhance collaboration with the regional NGOs whose target group is children, to enable the children’s expert committee members implement their own projects.
The events held by the NGOSchool:
July-August 2006 - The School NGO experts developed a packet of documents for the target “ Children’s Expert Committees” project.
August–September 2006 - theChildren’s Expert Committee contest was announced among theNGOs whose target groups are children and teenagers.
The contest took place in the program cities: Krasnoyarsk, Achinsk, Sayanogorsk,Novokuznetsk, Bratsk and Boksitogorsk.The contest proposals were evaluated and the winning projects were selected.
2-4 October 2006 - Experts of the NGO School Foundation ran a seminar on how to better preparechildren and teenagers for participation in the project and the training session on the program implementation for the CSP representatives and the NGO staff from the five RUSAL company cities.
28-29 November 2006 - the NGO School facilitators held a seminar “Evaluation procedures performed by the participants of children’s expert committees” for the CSP representatives and the regional NGOs staff from the company cities, which was held in Krasnoyarsk, Achinsk, Sayanogorsk,Novokuznetsk and Bratsk.
Oncoming project events:
10-11 December 2006 - A seminar “Evaluation procedures performed by the participants of children’s expert committees” for the CSP representatives and the regional NGO staff from Boksitogorsk.
January 2007 – Implementation of the first round of the 100 Cool Projects contest. Evaluation of the submitted contest proposals by the experts of the children’s expert committees.
